The World Economic Forum set up Global Shapers as a special community of extraodinary young people in their 20s. This new community will provide youth with a global platform to shape the future - integrating the personal, community and global dimensions of leadership. Through the unparalleled convening power of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is diverse in demographics, geographical areas and sectors. However, it is united by a common desire to channel members' tremendous energy and enthusiasm into building a more peaceful and inclusive world. The Global Shapers Community Kuala Lumpur Hub encourages applications and nominations from under-represented groups. Potential members of the Global Shapers Community must be:
- Outstanding indiviuals with great potential for future leadership roles in various sectors of society
- Between 20 and 30 years old at the time of application
- Imbued with a spirit of entrepreneurship in the global public interest
- Highly committed to developing their leadership potential towards serving society
- Adhering to the highest standards of personal and intellectual integrity
- Possessing unique qualities that distinctly set them apart from the mainstream
- Having already initiated and delivered a major project, or founded a company / organization, exceptionally contributing to serving the society at large
- Resident or otherwise physically close to the cities in which their home Hub is based
- Ready to pro-actively engage in the Shapers Community and support fellow Shapers in their individual and professional development
